Insulating Unconditioned Crawlspaces

Adding PINK® FIBERGLAS™ batts between the joists in an unheated crawlspace ceiling stops cold air from rising up into the floor above.

Always install the insulation—from one end of the house to the other—with the vapor retarder toward the warm side of the structure in heating climates. Insulate carefully around water pipes and electrical wiring and boxes. Insulation hangers or nylon straps can be used to hold it in place around the joists. A 4- or 6-mil polyethylene vapor retarder should be spread to completely cover the ground. Rocks or bricks placed around the perimeter will hold it in place.
